Wills-Brunson Night In 2009

My sister and brother-in-law were going to a birthday party, so they brought my nephew Bryson and my niece Macie over for a night in. It was an interesting night. Bryson was throwing the dog toys and playing with Faith and Sarah. He needs a dog Alicia!! We took a walk on the golf course and poor Bryson got eaten up by mosquitoes.

Bryson flexing his muscles!

Macie wasn't too happy.

Macie is all better now and wondering what Uncle Nick is doing!

Macie was fussy at bedtime. She wanted to be walked around, so I had Nick do that because I was too tired. She calmed down and they both fell asleep on Nick's chair.

Ultrasound Fail #2

Nick and I went to see if Ramona had moved since last week, so we could get our 4D ultrasound. Poor Nick taking time off again only to be disappointed. Ramona is still in her birthing position. The ultrasound tech said I could try again next week which I am going to. That's the nice thing about being a teacher in the summer! I told Nick not to worry about coming. We will have the whole thing on dvd anyway. I guess Ramona gets her stubbornness from me. Although she will pretty much win this battle if she chooses too. We will see if next week is any different.

I had my normal doctor's visit today as well. I have gained 4 pounds, so I'm up a total of 15 pounds. I don't think I'll be able to keep it under 20 which is what I really wanted. The doctor said I look great and my measurements are good. I'm basically all belly. She also said I'm having a great pregnancy which is true thusfar. I haven't been sick, my weight, blood pressure and sugar are good. Let's hope it keeps being this wonderful (with the exception of Ramona hiding from us).

Nursery

Just a little nursery update and a little brag...

When I decided that I didn't want to deal with putting the nursery together, Nick took on the job and created a mood board which is basically a collection of pictures and things that you are (or are thinking about) doing in the room. He posted the mood board on our home blog willscasados.blogspot.com He was contacted by some people that wanted to feature it on a nursery design site. Here is the link to that site: http://projectnursery.com/2009/07/a-room-for-ramona/ A room for Ramona has a nice ring to it, don't you think? We have made a lot of changes in what we are thinking for the nursery now, but it isn't too different.

We have painted and painted and painted some more. I primed the room what feels like (and probably is) weeks ago. We painted the base color - Sherwin Williams White Dogwood. Then we taped for the stripes. Pulled that tape down - the laser level didn't work so well. Bought a large level and drew the 7 and 3/4 inch lines for the horizontal stripes. Then re-taped successfully this time. I sealed the tape by painting the White Dogwood along the edge. Then I started on the 1st coat of our contrast color Rosy Outlook mixed at 50%. That was the swatch combination that we liked the most. After the 1st coat, it didn't look any different from the White Dogwood. Odd but I painted the 2nd coat - still no contrast. Thus, back to Sherwin Williams we went. We got Rosy Outlook mixed at 75%. I painted the 1st coat. Then we noticed there was what appeared to be pin head spots on every stripe across the room. I called Sherwin Williams, and they gave me different, thicker paint to try. I haven't painted yet. Although it sounds like it was one thing after the one (which I guess it was), it has been multiple weeks of painting/working on the nursery in short spurts. Luckily, it really doesn't take long to paint the stripes. Hopefully, I will do that tomorrow, so I can touch up on Friday.

I guess what's odd about all of this is once the painting is done we still won't be able to do much until the flooring and trim are in place. Right now the stripes end evenly, but with the new floor and trim it will mess that up. Oh well. It might actually take a whole stripe away since the floor will be higher than the current carpet and the trim is going to be 5.25 inches tall. It will be nice to have my part finished! Less than 10 weeks until Ramona makes her appearance!

Ultrasound Fail

We were scheduled for our 4D ultrasound today after my doctor requested that I move it back 2 weeks from our original date. Ramona was face down, so we couldn't see anything. It was anti-climatic to say the least. We rescheduled for next Thursday morning. I don't really think she will move back into a position for us to get any pictures and really see her face. I wish I hadn't changed the original appointment. I knew it was a bad idea to begin with, but I chalked it up to being impatient.

Apparently, she has a big head though which makes me a bit nervous. Ramona is 3 pounds and is definitely a girl. It was reassuring to know that everything looks good, and she's healthy. I just wish I could see her precious face.

Late Night

Well Nick and I have a busy day tomorrow. He's working from home while I usher in contractors for quotes all morning. We have to drop off paperwork at EECU for the house. Then finally we have our long awaited 4D ultrasound in the afternoon!

So with this packed day you would think I'd be resting up since I'll be doing more tomorrow than I have this whole week. Funny how I'm not asleep. My stomach has been killing me. Not like oh I ate something that isn't settling well. It's more like I have an alien growing inside me. Ramona is feverishly trying to make more room for herself. I have tried to explain to her that my skin doesn't have the capacity to stretch any more. Thus, I cannot get any bigger and she should give up. Well, she already doesn't listen to me.

She's been sticking her foot (? possibly arm??) out and holding it defiantly out just to show me who will win this battle in my belly. Of course through all the pain I have to just laugh and realize how much I love this little alien we've named Ramona. I wish she'd let me sleep tonight, but I am going to stay up and savor the moment. I'm sure she'll be keeping me up plenty with shenanigans like tonight, so I will just sit back and smile (through the tears of pain). We are almost to the 10 week countdown, then she'll be keeping me up for an entirely different reason. And before I know it she'll be grown up and I'll be waiting up for her to come home.

I guess I'll sit here and feed her animal crackers until she decides it's time to sleep!

28 Weeks

I hit the 28 week mark on Saturday. I just keep getting bigger and bigger. It's been super hot, but I have only been outside when I'm in the pool. It hasn't been as bad as it could be. Nick and I registered this weekend at Target and Babies 'R Us. It was pretty overwhelming because there is just so much that I know we need. I am also very aware that there is so much that I don't even know that I need! My sister Alicia met me at Babies 'R Us today with my adorable niece Macie and my precious nephew Bryson. She guided me through the store and made sure I had some of the things that I missed. Bryson scanned everything we told him to. He liked playing with "the gun." I'm feelings pretty good about the registry now. Let's just hope we get what Ramona needs. She'll be here before we know it.

I primed the nursery today. Well, I have half the ceiling and the corners left. I pained some samples on the wall. They aren't the right shade of pink. My mother-in-law came over, and I think she picked some better colors. I'm going to try them tomorrow. In case you didn't know, we are going to horizontally stripe the room in 2 shades of pink - well pinkish shades. Hopefully, I will have some pictures up of the new swatches or at least have a link to the picture. The nursery is both part of the family blog and the home blog!

Another Appointment

I went to the doctor's office last Thursday. I had my glucose test. I drank that special fruit punch. I had lots of warnings about it. I drank it and thought it wasn't that bad...then about 5 minutes later I understood what everyone was talking about. I started feeling so weird. I felt that I was full of sugar and wanted to throw up. Luckily I didn't pass out when they drew blood or while I waited an hour for them to actually draw the blood. I'm super excited that that was the last time I had to test my blood before Ramona gets here! They told me that my glucose levels are fine. The only thing is that I was low on iron, so I have to take a supplement now.

I gained 4 pounds, so I'm up 11 pounds total at 27 weeks. I guess it could be worse. I keep wondering how in the world I am going to get bigger. I find it almost impossible that my skin is going to stretch even more! I know it will and that I'll get bigger. I tried to take a picture the other day, but the shadows were terrible. I will try again this weekend.

I spent some time floating around in the pool yesterday. Thanks to Julie Petitt who dropped off a floatie for me! I was reading Tipping Point. It was super relaxing. I didn't have time today, but I bought my very own floatie and can't wait until tomorrow. The trees over the pool are great. I am rarely in direct sunlight and the water is cool. Hopefully, I can get my homework stuff done and get to floating in the afternoon.
